About Katherine
Hi! Allow me introduce myself. I am Katherine D. Bennett, a writer, a teacher, a mother, a believer. I live deep in the Missouri Ozarks on a bluff overlooking a winding river and vast woods. Although I was raised in Kansas City and graduated from high school there, I have spent most of my adult life away from cities and have enjoyed living in small towns or in the country.
In 1982, I graduated from Barclay College—a small Quaker college in Haviland, Kansas—with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music and Religion, and during those golden summers, I traveled to Alaska to work in the canneries earning money for my schooling. In 1999, I graduated from Missouri Western State University with a second Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I taught in a small rural school for a number of years and loved my students and teaching. With a certain joy commingled with sadness, I hung up my teaching hat in 2006 to follow my heart, though I shall always remember my years as a teacher with pride and particular fondness.
Among my accomplishments as a writer, I have published children’s stories on CD by the celebrated Love and Logic® Institute, written for various newspapers, and—perhaps my greatest achievement to date—published the 460-page science-fiction/fantasy novel Sojourner’s Truth. Between these projects, I have stayed sharp with a wide variety of freelance and editing projects; if you need any work done, I am quite flexible and am always interested in new prospects!
My interests range from gardening to martial arts, though I admit to having no particular skill for any of them. I bask in the company of my children, family, and friends and am convinced that good books and beautiful music make the world go round. I have a deep, abiding faith that guides my life, I love to sing, and I sincerely hope you will enjoy reading my stories. :)
Thanks for stopping by to visit!
Take care,
Katherine
